Wednesday, December 20, 2006

São Paulo, 6 November 2006—Purcom Quimica Ltda announced today that it had assumed control of the shares of Arch Qumica do Brasil's polyurethane systems division. The agreement includes the pressurized and conventional systems, the trademarks Autopack® and Autofroth® and the technologies related to the production and application processes.

The acquisition and transition process of the Deal was conducted in such a way as to reassure the market of the continuity of existing commercial agreements, and the same quality policy that has been developed by Arch Qu¯mica do Brasil over the last 30 years. With this decision, Arch Qu¯mica aligns itself with the global strategy of the Polyurethane Business, focusing its efforts on the special polyols supply sector.

For Purcom, the acquisition represents another step in its continual trend towards increasing its range of services and products in the polyurethane systems market, with personalized and intelligent solutions. Proof of this is that it immediately began offering ecological pressurized polyurethanes, developed with Ecomate®, a totally ecological expander, and solvent-less guns, from its North American partner, Foam Supplies.

Purcom is a Brazilian company. Created in 2002, it rapidly became the market leader in the independent polyurethane (PU) systems house market. With the acquisition of assets from Arch, it is now five times bigger than the second ranking company in the sector, maintaining its commitment to existing and new clients, to continue bringing innovations to the market and preserving the quality of its products and services.

Arch Chemicals, Inc. with headquarters in Norwalk Connecticut (USA) is a global company in the Biochemistry sector, with annual sales of approximately US$ 1.3 billion. The company provides innovative chemical base solutions for controlling the growth of harmful microbes, and its main activities are focused on water, hair and skin products, wood treatment, paints and coatings. The company operates in two sectors: treatment products and performance products. Including all its subsidiaries, Arch has around 3 thousand employees, as well as production and support facilities for consumers in North and South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. In Brazil, Arch has two manufacturing units. One in the town of Salto, in São Paulo, and the other in Igarassu, Pernambuco.
